All We Have is a Voice

“Who can release them now,
Who can reach the deaf,
Who can speak for the dumb?
All I have is a voice
To undo the folded lie” – W. H. Auden

The June PDC General Meeting was held on Monday, June 22nd at the Cowan Creek Amenity Center. Gary Hoover began the night with an outstanding PowerPoint titled “All We Have is a Voice.” (You can see his presentation by clicking the link below.)

Given the timing of the upcoming midterms, and the simultaneous (and sadly unrelenting) assault on our democratic norms, the PDC is shifting to a more action-oriented focus in order to seize the opportunity to accomplish a change in that trend during this time period. Our intent is not to abandon our core principles. In fact, this effort is the result of our commitment to them. Rather, we see this as a very real opportunity to reverse the slide toward authoritarianism. While the PDC will still be a place for information and community, we will also be working on ways to offer participation in three activities we’ve identified as meaningful opportunities to make a difference.

We have come to appreciate that our members are already so well educated and somewhat stressed by staying well informed, and that in recognition of that is another reason, we are shifting our focus to become more action-centered. Join us, won’t you?

ALL WE HAVE IS A VOICE POWERPOINT

If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.”
